The body of the stein is stoneware with raised-relief decoration and portrays lighthouses, dolphins, whales and waves. The handle has a rope border. The pewter thumblift is a mussel shell and the pewter lid is embossed with a leaping dolphin design. Howard Koslow, a famous painter of lighthouses and commissioned by the US Postal Service painted this pair of west coast lighthouses, Old Point Loma and Heceta Head. The names of the lighthouses appear directly below the circular porthole style images.
